If you’ve ever wanted to make hummus but didn’t want to clean up the food processor or blender, you’re in luck! This recipe makes the most creamy, delicious hummus, and all you need is an immersion blender (or stick blender) and a bowl or jar wide and deep enough to fit it in and accommodate your hummus.
Ingredients For Hummus Recipe
- 1/4 – 1/3 cup tahini
- juice of 1-2 lemons (I like my hummus particularly lemon-y but if you add less lemon juice you can add some cold filtered water to get the right consistency – you’re aiming for about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of liquid.)
- salt, to taste
- 1 tsp granulate garlic
- 1/2 tsp sweet paprika
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 19 oz can chickpeas, rinsed under cold water until there are no more bubbles
- 1/4 – 1/3 cup avocado oil
- generous drizzle (several tablespoons) of olive oil, for flavour
Directions For Making Hummus
Step 1: add tahini, lemon juice and salt (and, if needed, water) to jar and blend until a smooth pale paste forms (Basically to start the hummus recipe we are making prepared tahini first) You can use a regular whisk or place the whisk attachment onto your immersion blender.
Step 2: add in the rest of the ingredients (don’t forget salt, to taste) and blend until everything is well combined and smooth.
Step 3: Spread onto a shallow dish, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle on your favourite spice – I used za’atar but sumac or paprika would be amazing as well.
Step 4:dip your vehicle of choice (chips, pita, sliced veggies, crackers) and enjoy!
Simple, delicious hummus is a wonderful, high fiber snack that’s simple to make and sophreakingood!
